Become a Judge for the Jr. Duel!
Participating students from schools in Tucson and our surrounding community have experienced a minimum of 10 hours gaining financial knowledge. They will test these new skills by evaluating a case study of a family in financial distress and use the next 3 weeks to analyze it and present reasonable and workable solutions to a panel of expert judges. The success of this event each year would not be possible without the support of our judges.
We invite you to participate as a judge in this year’s Jr. Duel in the Desert, as your expertise will greatly enhance the competition and aid in the students’ overall learning experience. On Saturday, March 28, 2009 judges will gather at 7:30 a.m. for an orientation breakfast followed by student presentations. The judges’ orientation will be held at The University of Arizona campus, Student Union Memorial Center. All presentations and deliberations are scheduled to conclude by 1 p.m. followed by lunch and the presentation of awards at 12:45 p.m. If you would like to judge and are unable to stay for lunch, then please indicate this in your reply.
To assist you in preparing for this event, we will provide you with an electronic version of the case, judging criteria, and potential judging solutions one week prior to the event. All judges will be honored with a special “thank you” as a token of our appreciation for your time and support. New this year, we would like to conclude the ceremony with an added dimension for students’ knowledge by featuring judges interested in sharing what they were looking for and potential solutions.
We will be recognizing you in our event program, which will include your name, photo, and brief professional biography. These programs are given to all competition attendees including students, faculty, judges, and sponsors. Space is limited for judging so we would greatly appreciate a reply soon. Additional event details will be sent in March to those who are able to join us.
If you are able to join us (and we hope that you are) we ask that you send your picture, e-mail address, and bio for our competition program to tcainstitute@cals.arizona.edu by Friday, February 13, 2009.
